Campus Wi-Fi Connection

Hasan Kalyoncu University’s campus wireless network separates users into four networks by role: students use OGRENCI, academic staff AKADEMIK, administrative staff IDARI, and visitors MISAFIR. On the institutional networks (OGRENCI, AKADEMIK, IDARI) you sign in with the same institutional username and password you use on the Portal.

1. Networks

Visitor MISAFIR Username and password created by visitor registration

Note: The university does not provide eduroam.

2. Username and Password (OGRENCI / AKADEMIK / IDARI)

  • Students enrolled in 2025 or later: student number (e.g. 251234567).
  • Students enrolled before 2025: name.surname (e.g. ayse.yilmaz).
  • If your student number has changed, keep using your old username; if unsure, e-mail destek@hku.edu.tr.
  • Staff: your institutional username (the part of your e-mail address before the @).
  • Do not add @std.hku.edu.tr / @hku.edu.tr to the username.
  • Password: the same password you use for the Portal, LMS and e-mail. Forgot it? See Forgot Password: Step by Step (Turkish).

3. Connecting

  • Phone (iOS / Android): choose your network (OGRENCI, AKADEMIK or IDARI), enter your username and password, and accept the certificate if asked. On Android, if asked for the EAP method choose PEAP, phase 2 MSCHAPV2.
  • Windows / macOS: select your network, tick “Connect automatically”, enter your username and password, and confirm the certificate prompt.

4. Visitor Network (MISAFIR)

  1. Select MISAFIR; your browser opens the registration page.
  2. Enter your name, surname, Turkish ID number, date of birth and mobile phone.
  3. Your username and password are shown on screen and sent by SMS; sign in with them.

Access logs are retained for two years under Law No. 5651.

5. Safe Use

  • Connect only to the university’s official networks (OGRENCI, AKADEMIK, IDARI, MISAFIR); beware of fake networks with similar names.
  • Never share your institutional password; IT staff will never ask for it.

Connection Problems

  • Authentication failed: make sure you typed the username without a domain; if your password changed, “forget” the saved network on your device and reconnect. Forgot your password? Follow the Forgot Password guide.
